Data404 es un proyecto que recoge cualquier acción o actividad relacionada con liberar la información pública en formatos abiertos y, por lo tanto, hacer de la administración un lugar transparente y accesible a la ciudadanía. Esta nueva administración debería animar, formar e incentivar la participación horizontal de la ciudadanía en la creación de aplicaciones y servicios web a partir de la información disponible. La visualización y manipulación libre de la información pública, sin filtros de terceros o tecnología cautiva, con el fin último de representar un control público, distribuido y descentralizado, de las actuaciones de la administración pública.
