It is aimed at providing tools to support discussions related to Climate Change, in preparation to the UN Climate Change Conference that will be held in Copenhagen in Nov 09. Essence is sponsored by the Open University (UK).
MIT's Center for Collective Intelligence has joined the Essence consortium with a tool called "Climate Collaboratorium".
"What is needed, we believe, is a new kind of web-mediated discussion and decision-making forum."
Discussions within the Climate Collaboratorium are organised into
Essence also includes a number of other tools that share the same objective of modeling debates, deliberations and arguments, using representations such as mindmaps, argument maps, debate maps, "truth maps", etc:
This twine is about the Essence project and related tools. However, pointers to other concrete collective intelligence or argument modeling projects are also welcome. Of course, such projects do not necessarily have to be related to the problem of climate change.
