*Changing America?

Public
America has begun a process of change as demanded by We The People in the historic election November 4, 2008. The global financial and economic crisis will require urgent changes. The global environmental challenges will require urgent changes. These are no times for business as usual. We are privileged and responsibles of being part of a social process of reflection for real change.
Is America really changing? Where is the change? Is the newly elected Administration going to make real changes? Where are the forces opposing change? And the consequences of no change?
Our elected officials are Accountable to us, The People. It is time to demand real change, before it's too late. We want to see Lady Liberty's torch again burn bright, lighting the way.

Let A Hundred Theories Bloom - Joseph Stiglitz et alThe economic and financial crisis has been a telling moment for the economics profession, for it has put many long-standing ideas to the test. If science is defined by its ability to forecast the future, the failure of much of the economics profession to see the crisis coming should be a cause ...

The Great Contraction of 2008-2009A popular view among economic forecasters and market bulls is that “the deeper the recession, the quicker the recovery.” They are right – up to a point: immediately after a normal recession, economies do, indeed, often grow much faster than usual over the ensuing twelve months. Unfortunately, ...

275% of Potential Recruits Too Fat, Too Sickly, Too Dumb to Serve | Danger Room | Wired.comIf we get the conservatively dreaded "food police", don't be too fast to blame it all on "liberal do gooders". 2U.S. spends most, but health quality lags - Yahoo! NewsHey tea-bagged-dummies! That great private (monopolized) health care system you are defending is responsible for "rationing care" (including with "death panels" who decide which patients with cancer will DIE before they can fight though the insurance bureaucracy for the care they need!), AND ...JDP added 2 days ago
