Brand strategy has to evolve beyond marketing and advertising into cultural and social action. The increased visibility and transparency of every corporate action means that brand missions/corporate mission statements /corporate social responsibility have to move from "the favorite charities of senior management and their wives" to planned and managed social strategies consistent with marketing and other corporate activities. While "Corporate Social Responsibility" is the conventional term it has come to represent a separation between the actions an organization takes for its business and the actions it takes for social good. Social Strategy is the combination of both business development and social action.
