Four key features characterize Education 3.0:
- the role of students in making choices such as designing their own programs of study;
- students as socially networked producers of reusable learning content;
- increasing cross institutional, decentralized or even institutional participation in education;
- institutional arrangements that permit the accreditation of learning achieved.
Social networking technologies play a key role in Education 3.0, but it is people focused, not tech focused.
