using web 2.0, social media, services to network better

I am a film historian. My goal is to use the internet to develop more contacts with similar interests and drive more traffic to my blog. I have over 2000 contacts scattered across the internet. A small fraction of them are listed in my address book. Many of my contacts are also interested in movies, some are not. I try to keep track of online friends and contacts from various social networks, but I rarely have an email address for them. I would like to keep an organized offline friend database.
