The centre of the universe
Public
This is a twine about cosmology and philosophy. What is our place in the universe?
The title is borrowed from “The View from the Center of the Universe” by Joel Primack and Nancy Ellen Abrams.
We consider ourselves amateurs in these matters. A nephew who is a philosophy student recommended us “The Non-Local Universe”, another book that you will find in this twine. This was a bit the starting point for this quest.
Please feel free to participate in this quest.

11BBC NEWS | Science & Environment | Galaxy has 'billions of Earths'But show me just one that does. Count the doubtful words in this short description - could, just, very few, however, roasting, estimated, probably, most likely... No positive facts whatsoever. Just assumptions. Nothing to come close to "billions of..."Murray Peat added 8 months ago

11Did our cosmos exist before the big bang? - space - 10 December 2008 - New ScientistThis assumes that the cosmos before our present one was constructed in much the same way as our current one. I see there are differences of opinion about recalling what might have been in a previous cosmos. It's sort of like saying - Here's an acorn. It will grow into a tree. All the force and ...Murray Peat added 11 months ago

The Sunspot Enigma: The Sun is ?Dead??What Does it Mean for Earth?I know, I know. But this is actually not true. "Masses" as you call them (I hate this word) do buy good science popularization when it's well done. Good ordinary science is really spectacular and sensational by itself. I've shown the solar activity and rings of Saturn to thousands of people in ...bernard added 17 months ago

The Sunspot Enigma: The Sun is ?Dead??What Does it Mean for Earth?Well I suppose the easy answer is sensationalism makes good news and science is only interesting to the masses if we can put Bruce Willis on a spaceship to blow up a comet.fedora added 17 months ago

The Sunspot Enigma: The Sun is ?Dead??What Does it Mean for Earth?Copying the comment I just added to this article: "Why do we need apocalyptic news to get people's attention on science? I've been observing the sunspots for years over cycles 21-22-23 (not much time for it lately, unfortunately). We know the solar cycle is a mix of regularity (11 years ...bernard added 17 months ago
