Wargaming - Conflict Simulations
Public
Wargaming or Conflict Simulation is the recreation of historical or hypothetical conflicts, potentially at a variety of simulation levels. This can include generic games such as Avalon Hill's Tactics to more specific games like Ogre/GEV or Squad Leader. It can include RPGs like D&D (fantasy), Traveller (sci-fi) or GURPS (generic). Miniatures and map exercises are also included.
Generally computer based games are excluded, except as a players aid.

Interview with yours truly in VentureBeat todaySee this (including a response from me which appears at the very end). And for background, see this month's Wired magazine article . Cheers, - David Scott "Lightman" Lewis (yep, some hackers convinced me that I should start using my hacker alias, "Lightman")

Something you didn't know about me ...Since Hrafn always meant this to be a social network for Twine Power Users (and I, along with Nova) were the first two co-admins invited by Hrafn, here's something I might as well share: Guess what, I'm the real David Lightman (well, as close as there is to a real David Lightman) -- as in the movie, ...

Medical Consequences of a Nuclear Attack on IranIn this report published in 2006, the PSR tends to support US sponsored pressures on Iran regarding its alleged nuclear weapons program : "The use of nuclear weapons against Iran would be illegal under international law. The PoolMy opinion is contained in the description. Any further explanations would be like copy-pasting the document, since it is that short (which, obviously, tells you already something about how it compares to GURPS when it comes to complexity ...). The system almost completely does away with any ...Kaspar Manz added 17 months ago

The PoolI wasn't interested in -their- opinion, I was asking -your- opinion. It's like all these damned Amazon book reviews people post on here. I don't think anybody actually reads the books, just posts them up because they look cool or are on topic. Bleh.James Choate added 17 months ago

The PoolWell, it's all in the linked file, which is very short, you should have read it in 10 minutes. It would be kinda hard to compare it to GURPS, since I don't know that system very well, but I think it is safe to say that it is very different.Kaspar Manz added 17 months ago
