Business Interaction Management (BIM)
Public
This is a twine on Business Interaction Management (BIM), a domain that we are currently exploring since this might become a major new paradigm for the coming generation of enterprises.
The technical definition of BIM is "The field of expertise that encompasses the planning, the design and the control of how a company's business processes interact with the (business) processes of other internal and external parties". A more elaborate description of this can be found in the "The case for Business Interaction Management (BIM)" item in this twine, that you can also read here: http://www.xpragma.com/english/content/pdf/XD-BIM-wp-E.pdf.
This is an open forum for discussion on the various aspects that relate to this concept. However, we want this to be a focused discussion platform. Therefore, the focus should be on the "process" aspect of things. In this twine, we are not interested in the specifics of interfaces, being the way these processes are exposed to the other parties. Neither are we interested in the process management itself, since, as can be read in above mentioned text, this is part of the BPM expertise.
Things that we are interested in include:
- How to handle contractual agreements in a dynamic environment involving multiple parties?
- How to define winning strategies in a multi-party context where conflicting interests exist?
- How to identify potential process improvements by looking at other parties' expectations?
- How to identify innovative approaches in fuzzy environments?
- How to identify win-win opportunities with partners?

Business processes are not your business"You are of course right, but you are a BPM-guy." when you say it like that I feel so objectified :-) "Most people really have problems handling conceptual things such as “processes”." you are right here, and I think the language is not helpful, nor is the precision required of a documented ...Kurt Laitner added 7 months ago
