Artificial Memory

Artificial Memory
Public
Artificial Memory is an innovative concept for people-centered computing developed and advocated by cognitive psychologist Lars Ludwig. An artificial memory is a mind extension system supersizing one's memory, thinking, and creativity. In the long run, an instance of an artificial memory ought to be able to store all personal expressions of a person’s knowledge, be it conscious or unconscious knowledge.

Artificial Memory is used to create Artificially Extended Minds rather than Artificial Minds/Agents (Artificial Intelligence). In a Society / System of Artificial Memory Extended Minds, communication and knowledge sharing could be extended and enhanced far beyond what the WWW's / Semantic Web's vision could offer us. In order to get there, however, a paradigm shift in HCI and software architecture is necessary, as Artificial Memories will have to establish a individual human proxy system through which all human 'symbolic knowledge' interactions with other systems would have to take place.
