Local Events: Austin TX USA :: Intended to be THE place to go if you're in Austin, from Austin, going to be in Austin, or just want to find out about Austin.
Confusion Research Center :: This is an effort to create a hands-on science museum in Austin TX. I was a founding member of Discovery Hall that existed here from 1984 to 1991.
Change Congress :: This is a political activism group started by Lawrence Lessig to focus on opening up the financial operations of Congress. The big picture goal is to reduce corruption and special interest activity that damages democracy in this country. I exchange emails with Professor Lessig and we are currently working to start a chapter in Texas to be homed here in Austin, since we're the capital.
Cryptography - Civil Liberties - Economics :: This is an outgrowth of my personal experience, general interest, and specific activity in the Cypherpunks from 1992 to 2003.
Exotic Animals and Pets:: A twine for the discussion of animal husbandry, stewardship, and pets. There is an active discussion about the private possession of exotic or wild animals. Our position is that this represents the only reasonable conservancy policy availalble to long term survival.

Wargaming and Conflict Simulation :: Focused on non-computer based gaming, including miniatures. Computer augmented play is an acceptable topic. The games can be historical, sci-fi, fantasy, RPG, etc.

SRL was created in 1978 by Mark Pauline as a performance art group using technology to create impressive audio-visual experiences. We were fortunate in that we got to participate in the 1997 show here in Austin, TX.
The Writers Art and Science :: A place for anybody who writes or reads to discuss and share about tools and processes to make it more effective and efficient. Discussions from suggestions about good fountain pens or journals to computer based or on-line tools are allowable.
Science Fiction Projects :: A place for individuals and groups to work on science fiction related projects.
Gothic Gargoyles :: A blog for fans of gothic architecture, clothing, literature as well as horror. I'm a big fan of Poppy Z Brite and Splatterpunk.
