Twine.com Launches New Visualization Interface

Get Feed
Description

Twine.com has launched an experimental visualization interface. The visualization is available for registered users as an alternative way to view the stream of content around any interest they follow in Twine.

The visualizations shows the stream of content for a time-period of interest, within any "twine" (a twine is an interest). It's animated and moves nicely as you change settings and click through it.

You can move through time, to see content that has streamed in.

Click on item thumbnails to flip their cards over and view more detail about them on the back.

You can select one or more twines or tags to filter and pivot on.

Congratulations to Chris Jones, who led the project. It's very cool stuff!

Well I just gave this a try and I have to say, VERY nice! =) Now I only wish there was a way to further customize what shows up here, for instance instead of having all the twines a user has joined on the left side, having the option of just viewing twines that the user has created. Or being able to combine items from several twines.

Also... I'm not sure if this would be somehow defeating the purpose [I don't think so! =)], but it would be nice to have the option of embedding this [on some webpage for instance].

Cule. To set it, go to top right “filter view by” visualize view icon. Shows stack of items up to an hour ago, can use arrows or slider to go forward/backward, Tags on right, twines on left. Same title may be shown multiple times if item posted to several twines, may be tricky way to snapshot this into a single instance. Click flipover arrow on top right corner of item for detail and links. This one indicated 0 comments, though actually 3. Thanks.

Note that if you click tags or twines they will remain selected and will collectively filter the stream. You can clear the filter or unselect them to get back to the full stream.

        > top right “filter view by” visualize view icon

I have looked, and looked, and looked for the feature. Can't find it. What am I missing?

Edit: eventually, I found it at the home page.

I rarely use the home page. More often, I use the top level menus to find my way around. I expected to find the view options for a twine within a twine.

Nice, not what I expected (was thinking of large scale cluster viz for related items in batch view). I do love the simplicity of it though, and especially the expandable twine and tag navs on the sides and the flip view of the items. Fast, clean - bravo, Chris, Nova and team!
