Star Trek Movie Review
I hardly watched Star Trek when it was on T.V. And I mean from the first incarnation in the 60's to the most recent television version "Star Trek: Enterprise". I had only seen one of the Star Trek movies and really had no interest in Star Trek anything. So it's pretty safe to say that I was in no way shape or form a Trekkie. And still this movie rocked.

Pulse Smartpen should be required for college, not the iPhone
A week ago, the University of Missouri journalism department announced it would require its students to purchase an iPhone or iTouch for the fall semester. Many people have voiced their opinions on the subject but the alternatives to these products have been left without a voice. Until now.

A 35,000-Year-Old ‘Venus’ Sculpture Is Found - NYTimes.com
Full-Figured Statuette, 35,000 Years Old, Provides New Clues to How Art Evolved No one would mistake the Stone Age ivory carving for a Venus de Milo. The voluptuous woman depicted is, to say the least, earthier, with huge, projecting breasts and sexually explicit genitals.

Twine Is Taking Off, Now Bigger Than FriendFeed
It turns out that people are following more than just their friends online. Look at the comScore chart above comparing unique visitors in the U.S. to FriendFeed versus Twine. Yeah, I was shocked to see that Twine has more than three times as many unique monthly visitors as FriendFeed (714,000 vs. 188,000).

Larry Page on Real Time Google: We Have To Do It - ReadWriteWeb Is Google interested in searching the Real Time Web? Are they at all threatened by Twitter?
Are Google spiders already so fast that this emergence of Real Time is old news to them? Further fodder for pondering these types of questions was offered by Google co-founder Larry Page today at the Google Zeitgeist conference in Hertfordshire, UK.

The Future of Artificial Intelligence - NYTimes.com
Mountain View, Calif. — It’s summertime and the Terminator is back. A sci-fi movie thrill ride, “Terminator Salvation” comes complete with a malevolent artificial intelligence dubbed Skynet, a military R.&D. project that gained self-awareness and concluded that humans were an irritant — perhaps a bit like athlete’s foot — to be dispatched forthwith.

Five Things Wolfram Alpha Does Better (And Vastly Different) Than Google
Wolfram Alpha is not a search engine . Perhaps it will one day become one, but currently it’s exactly what its tagline says: a computational knowledge engine. However, it looks like Google, it provides you with answers and therefore most users will try to use it as a search engine, which doesn’t always yield good results. Once you start asking it the right questions, it’ll give you better answers.

Mike the Headless Chicken - 19 Insanely Weird Animals - LIFE
This is not a hoax: Following a non-lethal decapitation, Mike the headless chicken, later nicknamed "Miracle Mike" lived for approximately 18 months. Seen here in 1945, a little over one month after the beheading, Mike's body poses with his head.

It’s Time To Start Thinking Of Twitter As A Search Engine
At a dinner tonight with a friend the conversation turned to Twitter. He just didn’t get it, and he’s certainly not the first person to tell me that. Specifically, my friend didn’t understand the massive valuation ($250 million or more) that Twitter won in its recent funding. I told him why I thought it was more than justified: Twitter is, more than anything, a search engine.
