Description
Ray Kurzweil visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss his book "The Web Within Us: When Minds and Machines Become One." This event took place on July 1, 2009, as part of the Authors@Google series.

At the onset of the 21st century, it will be an era in which the very nature of what is means to be human will be both enriched and challenged, as our species breaks the shackles of its genetic legacy, and achieves inconceivable heights of intelligence, material progress, and longevity. The paradigm shift rate is now doubling every decade, so the twenty-first century will see 20,000 years of progress at todays rate. Computation, communication, biological technologies (for example, DNA sequencing), brain scanning, knowledge of the human brain, and human knowledge in general are all accelerating at an even faster pace, generally doubling price-performance, capacity, and bandwidth every year. Three-dimensional molecular computing will provide the hardware for human-level "strong" AI well before 2030. The more important software insights will be gained in part from the reverse-engineering of the human brain, a process well under way. While the social and philosophical ramifications of these changes will be profound, and the threats they pose considerable, celebrated futurist Ray Kurzweil presents an inspiring vision of our ultimate destiny in which we will merge with our machines, can live forever, and are a billion times more intelligent...all within the next three to four decades.

2030 is when all the boomers will need new cardio, joint and skeletal replacements, Sounds hopeful that these things are possible but the fly in the ointment is whether or not our government can avoid war, economic collapse or even a simple flu pandemic. The future always looks brighter than the current agonies suggest. Advanced techniques in Praying have not improved through the ages yet continue to function as originally designed.

This is absolutely relevant to my investigation of human consciousness.

Dr Jill Bolte Taylor, neuropsychologist, throws light on my latest attempt at a proposition: I know there is the "awakening to a new consciousness" phenomenon (aka Self-Actualization; Re-Birth) - but "What is actually happening during that process?" - given that it can happen outside a religious context.

http://www.ted.com/pages/view/id/204 She was conscious while having a stroke and thought it was “so cool” to be only right brained for a while.

      My embryo proposition continued:

How to disable or circumnavigate the linear logical language half of the brain? Or how to amplify the holographic side?

"God" is ancient Science; the best available hypothesis explaining world phenomena - acceptable to the consensus reality of the times – created and transmitted via language.

"The access to awe", mistakenly attributed to "God," lies on the other side of the fence in the natural human consciousness - freed of "the unnatural delusions transmitted by the Language of the culture we grew up in." The Word, language, creates an abstract interpretation of our environment, generating delusions such as good and evil and religion. Dr Jill's right brain stroke did it for her; set her free of the consensus reality - the narrow understanding of reality represented by the abstract signals we can squeeze through the severely restricted "pipe" of language. Is telepathy our natural means of communication? That would stamp out deception and secrecy in a hurry! But, then, how would you enter data in a computer?

Evolution has given us a 2-horse brain. One is the creator, the other is the implementer. We need to learn how to train them to work together.
