LandShare - for Land, Food and People
Get Feed
- Description
-
The ultimate aim of LandShare is to encourage and introduce systems of agriculture and food distribution worldwide that are designed expressly to feed people, now and far into the future, without injustice to the producers, without cruelty to livestock, and without destroying wild creatures or compromising the fabric of the Earth; and which remain within the control of the host countries and their people, and are rooted as far as possible in local traditions.
This vast agenda must be approached on many fronts and LandShare is prepared to be involved in all of them: in the practicalities of husbandry, trade, politics, and social life; and in encouraging research into basic science, and economic, political, and social theory. Most importantly, perhaps, we aim to bring advances in the different disciplines together, to create a coherent whole.
Our method is to identify and initiate achievable projects that promote this grand agenda as cost-effectively as possible. In particular, we seek to clarify and disseminate the ideas that can help the world to help itself.
Overall, quite simply, we want a better deal for humanity and for our fellow creatures, now and forever, and we believe that well-tempered agriculture and all that goes with it must be the starting point.
