I was not very impressed with Google's new announcements. I mean it's great that Google is doing these things, but I would have expected better RDFa support. As for WonderWheel -- heck we and others have done the same visualization for a decade ... and turns out nobody uses it. As for Google Squared ... sooo geeky.

OK don't get me wrong, I think Google does an AWESOME job at basic keyword search. But with billions to spend and soooo many people working there I am often amazed they don't do more amazing things in other areas too.

I agree, Nova. The WonderWheel in particular is underwhelming at best. I tried and tried to use it for something useful for all kinds of different things. It turns out that people's related searches just aren't as interesting to me as my own searches. As far as I can tell, it's only useful for navigating trends.

Also, the timeline... Well, I have found myself typing in 2009 lately to searches so I can be sure and get more current information, so I like the ability to see results from the last day or week. It begs the question though, what percentage of the time do you want OLD information? Only if it's somehow better or more relevant I suppose.

Google Squared might have usefulness, but my god doesn't it look bland. They really do need some help creatively. I am getting bored with boring!

Finally, the ability to search "forums" makes it seem like 1998. I mean, can forums please die already? I do occasionally get good information from "forums" but more often then not I have to eat a noise sandwich before I can get to the signal on the plate.
