New study may revolutionize language learning
Description
The teaching of languages could be revolutionised following ground-breaking research by Victoria University, New Zealand, PhD graduate Paul Sulzberger. Dr Sulzberger has found that the best way to learn a language is through frequent exposure to its sound patterns--even if you haven't a clue what it all means.

I read recently about a product that may be similar: the idea was to listen to music that has been filtered with respect to the "dominant frequencies" of the target language. This is supposed to train your ear and customize it to the music of the language u're trying to learn. See http://www1.speedlingua.com/demo

I remember that the bulgarians developed some 30 years ago a learning method based on music plus language listening, with Bach mainly. Bach as a "natural" music, helpíng the brain to listen and learn naturally, as if were the mother language spoken by the mother. Actually the recorded voice was a real soft female voice, not a virtual one.

Somewhere, Vygotsky said that what the child "learn" from the mother is far more complex than words - emotional bounded rythms, sounds, gestures, movements, caring, etc.; and what the mother "learn" of the child "learning" is a "feeling" of her whole lader of human progress, that guides the mother to support the climbing, step by step, the ZPD. Maturana said something similar in laguaging "in" emotioning.

Natural learning is a great topic to rebuild "in" learning a sense of human progress "in" living, far away from the factory "education".

I am pleased to see this, although it does seem rather obvious. I would like to find the actual research but have failed so far.
I worked this out for myself a long time ago: http://friedelcraft.blogspot.com/2008/04/best-thing-i-did-in-starting-to-learn.html

Not directly Mandarin related but certainly useful for all language learners. My own related discoveries here.
