Note about commenting in this twine

I agree with Candice that comment threads in the Beta Feedback and Suggestions twine have often gone so offtrack as to not be constructive. There have also been many constructive comments and discussions here. However, it makes sense now that Twine has grown to split this into 2 separate twines:

1. This twine is just for product feedback to the team and does not enable comments.

2. A new Twine Users Forum twine for general user community discussion, which does allow comments, and which does not have to be as focused or serious. http://www.twine.com/twine/11wwyhm7m-1c/twine-users-forum 

 

A little more explanation of why commenting was turned off in the Beta Feedback and Help twine:

The basic issue is that when people comment there is no way to moderate individual comments presently. We need a comments-moderation feature, but until we have one the only way to delete an inappropriate or off-topic comment is to either (a) delete the entire thread (but that usually results in many good comments getting deleted as well), or (b) to ask the relevant commenters to delete their comments (but this is a hassle for everyone involved and doesn't always work anyway).

So in the meantime, until we have comments-level moderation capabilities, turning off commenting in this twine might not be the ideal long-term solution but it does make this twine both more productive for most users, and easier to moderate for the team.

Of course there is a workaround for anyone who still really wants to comment on an item in this twine: just post non-threaded replies (such as this post for example) by adding new items to the top of this twine which are really replies to previous items and simply include a link to the post you are replying to.

As for what is considered "constructive" and appropriate to post into this Beta Feedback twine -- use your common sense in general, but for those who need a rigorous defintion I would suggest that it be defined as: original posts that ask a question or provide a suggestion, compliment, complaint or comment about the Twine Beta to the team, or posts in reply that provide relevant answers, further information or help.
