How Many Friends Do You Have? - Tammy Erickson
Get Feed- Description
- Lynda Gratton of London Business School describes two broad categories of relationships. Strong ties extend over many years and are based on trust and reciprocity; weak ties are with acquaintances that we interact with less frequently. Consistent with the Swisscom findings, Lynda has found that most of us have only three to six strong ties, with men averaging closer to three and women, six. And these two types of relationships serve different purposes. Strong ties are often voices of stability and support, while our weak ties offer new, perhaps conflicting perspectives, provocative insights, and critically important connections.
