We've all heard of 'six degrees of separation', the idea that everyone in the world can be connected in just a few steps. But what if those steps don't just relate to people but also to viruses, neurons, proteins and even to fashion trends? What if this 'six degrees of separation' allowed us an insight into something at the core of Nature?...

Something to add to the C(_) modeling. 3 videos, totalling about 54 minutes, but well worth watching.

6 degrees is not *just* about how near or far apart we are (connection wise), but also about *how* the connection map is structured. An important part of how 6 degrees works, is the existence of 'hubs'. We have discussed connexions and trust, but the model may need to account for some 'nodes' having a lot more connexions than others. When using 'ring of trust' to [for example] surface information for our limited attention resource, those nodes with a lot connexions look to be [on average] more important than other connexions.

As a start, I think the item to add to the model, is the count of connexions. What I think will be really useful [if it can be extracted] is finding those links [connexions with connexions] that go far outside of the 'local' cluster, especially to hub nodes. A connexion to someone that has connexions [only] to all of the same people that you already have a direct connexion with is not as useful [wrong word?] for expanding your world as a connexion to someone that has connexions outside of your existing circle.

The local cluster, where almost everyone has a connexion to almost everyone else, are candiates for [some level] of friendship. Perhaps that can even be used to automatically [programatically] extract some trust and friendship related information. Or at least to 'surface' that information, as a place to start when manually [spending attention] populating friendship and trust information.
