Twine Release Notes 09-04-2008 (Sprint 27.1)

Overview

These are the release notes for Sprint 27.1, a re-release (with some enhancements under the hood) of Sprint 27 which we released last week, but for technical reasons had to rollback.

This release includes two major new feature - the ability to rate items and import bookmarks - along with major improvements to search and a number of bug fixes.

Main New Features, Improvements

Import Bookmarks (new feature)

• You can now import bookmarks that you have exported from Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari to a file
• You can also export your de.licio.us bookmarks to a file and import them to Twine.

Rating Items (new feature)

• On the item detail page you can now assign a rating to an item, on a 5-star scale (note: applies only to items; comments cannot be rated)
• The aggregate, average rating of a given item is displayed with that item's blurb throughout the site
• This will enable Twine to learn more about individual preferences, providing much better personalized recommendations down the road

Search Relevance (enhancement)

• Phrase search should now work as expected (eg, "Peter and the Wolf" in quotes yields different results than just Peter and the Wolf)
• Item titles that exactly match search terms will appear at the top of the result set
• Better handling of stop words and stemming
• Improved handling of searching on tags vs. text

Overall Site Performance (enhancement)

• We have done a lot of work under the hood to speed up the entire site

Minor Improvements and Bug Fixes

• Edit to Bookmarklet description and title don't save (fixed)
• Metadata on Twine Summary pages incorrect (fixed)
• Changing the Title in the Add Twine pup-up does not work (fixed)
• HTML codes appearing in description of Note and invitation emails (fixed)
• Item deletion and comment deletion issues (fixed)
• Twine with changed "add items" permissions not shown in the "share with another twine" list (fixed)
• On Twine Summary page, number of items not shown correctly (fixed)
