That's one big creepy cocoon. Everything else is nice enough to make up for it thought! :-)

I was surprised to see a new demo too. But I have to say, I'm not all that impressed with this one. They have much better ones!

I actually like it quite a lot! And it has a lot of "BLUE". ;)

This demo still looks like a lot of work. It has a very cool style (which is typical for all ASD demos).

I'm usually fond of mechanics and organic animation, which is what ASD excels at. And perfect transitions.

It would've been cool to see some shots of that bug move a little in full scale, but impressive as usual.

yup. and the overall steadyness of quality and frequency of ASD releases is incredibly impressive. can't imagine how cool it must be to work together in a demogroup like that, where the "juice" seems to be flowing "just like that" ..

We're all looking forward to seeing something new from Vantage... ;)

Indeed. Personally, when I watch ASD demos I think about "how the hell did they do that", "how do they manage transitions", etc. :-)

Yes, but I'd suppose it's also a bit of a pain. As mentioned before, the expectations are terribly high!

they can still do whatever they like to, because they *are* good. concept doesn't matter, execution will be good - that's the _real_ cool thing. i mean FTW, i tried to get a coder to do me some effects for about 4 years now, no chance, not even freakin' rotating, flat shaded cubes - pff.. that's pathetic. no matter what i try, it just doesn't work.. and they just *plop* demos around like there's nothing simpler in the whole world, without the need to "show off" their achievements by behaving uberelite like it's/it was the case with some fellow sceners..

and: i dont think they care much about the expectations of the audience. (ed.: .. because i think there wouldn't be such huge style breaks in between certain demos, otherwise)

Well actually concept matters very much. There's no mistaking that. But I suppose perhaps your point is that even if one comes up with the best possible concepts, and not have the right team to take over the challenge, it's not going to reach any destination.

Pressure also does exist. I believe I read something in a diskmag about how much pressure Naivs underwent while producing Lifeforce, a large part of it due to competition. But at the end it's nice that they don't let that pressure damage their artistic sense of experimentation.

In the end it's all for fun, isn't it?

              - but of course, making a demo like Lifeforce is making a statement.

yeah well that wasn't put very well, of course concept matters. can't think very well right now... anyways, the point is that you can have a very simple concept, if the execution happens on such a high level, the end result is still superior to the upper average, which makes the respective team incredibly powerful. not careing about style or questions of taste or anything, just comparing the potential to the mass. that's not just the case with ASD, there's a couple of groups that have extremely high potential and i guess i'm not telling anyone anything new with that .. and that's just impressive.

Well, the concept for Size Antimatters is pretty straight forward. Everything happens under an electronic microscope where we see a dead flea lying on some surface. Then the "Virtual" camera goes through the tubes next to the flea to reveal a factory which produces nanobots in a very surreal way. We follow the construction line of one of those nanobots and finally we exit from the same tube we entered the factory only to see several thousands of those nanobots flying over to the dead flea, tearing its crust and entering its insides, while "fixing" it and finally reviving it.

Basically Size Antimatters is just an "in your face" demo, in the sense of "let's do a demo for doing a demo's sake".

As for the music.. well it was pretty much a fast production.. trance.. pretty basic.. however... without wanting to give out too much of a spoiler I submit this to you:

"And here I am, all on my own, feeling cold and tired and lonely..
... so I open my eyes, and decide to go, on a midnight run."
