Data Portability Interest Group

Tuesday, May 20, 2008
07:15 AM - 08:15 AM

The DataPortability.org working group was recently established to look at ways in which data could be ported from one website or application to another (e.g. between social networking and social media sites). One of the main aims of this initiative is to enable scenarios where our identity, photos, videos and other forms of personal data can be discoverable by and shareable between our chosen (trusted) tools or vendors. During this session, we will have an open discussion amongst members of the DataPortability.org group and conference attendees who are interested in how data portability can be achieved using semantic technologies and representations including FOAF, XFN, hCard and SIOC.
