Mission Statement

The mission of the South American Explorers is to improve the social, economic and environmental conditions within South America by fostering greater awareness of this continent through the diffusion of information and cross cultural interaction.

South American Explorers was set up for independent travelers everywhere. It’s   club for those who want to plan their own trips, make their own decisions, book their own passage, and stay and move on when the spirit moves them.

Independent travelers need reliable up-to-date and accurate information. The SAE is there to provide it.

Why join? SAE members call upon their club in all five locations for trip planning  advice, information on places to stay, hard-to-find maps and books, help with locating guides, for networking with other South American travelers, and  assistance in finding the right volunteer job, outfitter, expert, etc.

Who can join? SAE membership is open to everyone. SAE members include  research scientists, teachers, journalists, students, travel agents,
doctors,  businessmen, etc. We now have members in 42 countries
worldwide, ranging in  age from 6 to 97
